It's Complicated -- BLOCKBUSTER
Call me a girl, a fag, or whatever, but I found myself enjoying every moment of It's Complicated. Yes, it's a movie targeted at middled aged women going through a life crisis, but it was also surprisingly entertaining.
The premise of the movie goes something in the lines of this: Jane (played by Meryl Streep) has been divorced with her ex-husband and love-of-her-life Jake (played by Alec Baldwin) for 10 years because Jake cheated on Jane with a younger woman, Agness (played by Lake Bell). Jake is now married to Agness, but it's more... well... complicated, because Jake isn't exactly having the marriage of his life, and Agness is a bit crazy -- when Jake left Jane for her, she (Agenss) cheated on him (Jake) with another man, conceived a son, left that new lover, and then went back to marry Jake. Then one night at a hotel bar, Jake and Jane got drunk and hooked up, and now the self-reliant Jane is having an affair with a married man. Not complicated enough for you? There's more: Jane meets Adam (played by Steve Martin), and they start to date.
The main force of the movie, as you may expect, is in Meryl Streep's incredible performance as Jane. I have only seen her in one other movie, Devil Wears Prada, in which she played Miranda, a competent but heartless executive, and her performance was in that was good, but (you may disagree with me on this as she did receive an Oscar nomination for this role) I felt that Meryl Streep was not able to shine in Devil Wears Prada because of her character in that movie was so heartless. In It's Complicated, however, she has no such limitations, and thus she was able to fully shine. And shine so very brightly she did.
I really liked the way everything concluded in the end (which I won't give away). There were enough twists towards the end that a few other alternative endings could have made sense, but the movie concluded with the ending that felt the most right (as in, it had the most appropriate ending out of all the possible ones).
I would recommend this movie only if you can appreciate a movie for its original storyline and good acting, or of course, if you're just a fan of Meryl Streep. It does take some thinking though, so I'm not sure this is the movie you want to watch if you just finished taking a 3 hour exam and just want to shut your brain off.

1) Please don't use the f word.
2) Are you kidding me? This was a TERRIBLE movie. Not sexy and NOT funny!
Dear Anonymous,
I apologize if you were offended by the word "fag". However, I can assure you that I did not mean it in a condescending way toward homosexual people.
Also, I never said the movie was sexy. Funny, yes, but not sexy. Could you please clarify what you mean?
Thank you,
X
